Agricultural Cooperative Alabama
How We Operate
As a financial cooperative, Alabama Farm Credit is governed by a local board of directors and owned by borrowers just like you. Our success is your success and, as such, we will always have your best interests in mind.
Because we are a cooperative, we provide value for membership by returning earnings in the form of a cash patronage to customers based on annual earnings. The more creditworthy our customers are, the better Alabama Farm Credit will perform. And that means a greater return for members.
Mission
The mission of Alabama Farm Credit, ACA is to be the premier lender of Rural Agricultural Credit and Financial Services in North Alabama. Our association stays true to the mission by:
- Adhering to consistent and sound business practices.
- Maintaining the viability of a strong, dependable lending organization.
- Measuring each action for its value to the member, both individually and collectively.
- Following the seven cooperative principles.
Who We Are
Alabama Farm Credit employees are experts in rural financing. We understand the varying operations unique to poultry, cattle, row crop and timber farms. We know how important it is to have the precise type of equipment, machinery, feed, seed and fertilizer to make the best product possible. Our co-op hopes to serve as your family’s full-service, agriculture lender.
Who We Serve
Our History
Founding
Alabama Farm Credit was founded in 1916 as part of the Farm Credit System, which remains the largest source of rural financing in the nation.
Banding Together
Before, rural borrowers were often limited to securing financing from outside corporations who failed to recognize the nuances of rural-property investment and agricultural operations. Established in response to difficult conditions farmers and ranchers faced almost a century ago, cooperatives like Alabama Farm Credit brought farmers, ranchers and small-town residents together to reach their economic goals.
Financing Through Adversity
Over the years, Alabama Farm Credit has financed producers through adversity ranging from tornados and flooding to drought and economic depression.
